About Angela McGeachy

Your Compassionate Guide through Pregnancy and Birth

Welcome to Coastal Fern Doula Collective!

I'm Angela McGeachy, but you can call me Angie. I'm not just a doula; I'm your partner, advocate, and source of unwavering support on your journey to parenthood. Located in the serene Cowichan Valley on the west coast, I bring the tranquility of our surroundings into my doula practice.

My Doula Journey

I embarked on my doula journey with a passion for providing evidence-based care in an environment where the medical system can sometimes feel overwhelmingly male-dominated. I believe in empowering women with knowledge, choices, and the emotional support they deserve throughout their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experiences.

Credentials and Certifications

I'm a proud graduate of Doula Canada and hold full certification as a labor and delivery, and postpartum doula. I have my First Aid Level C, which includes infant and child CPR. And of course a clear vulnerable sector criminal record check. My commitment to ongoing education and support includes working towards certification in fertility care, infant loss, and miscarriage, with further training to follow after that.

Currently finishing up my Childbirth Educator Course and should be offering classes starting in May 2024 located in Duncan for the Cowichan Valley.

Science-Based Support

My approach to doula care is rooted in science and proven statistics. I understand the importance of making informed decisions during this transformative period in your life. I'm here to provide you with the information you need to make choices that align with your unique needs and values. I stay up to date on the latest evidence in the birthing world, and am happy to provide the stats and statistics as requested.

From Beginning to Next Chapter

I'm dedicated to offering comprehensive support, from your initial excitement to the next chapter in your parenting journey. Whether you're considering your options for birth, navigating the intricacies of labor, or seeking postpartum assistance, I'm here for you.

 A Mother's Perspective

I'm not just a doula; I'm a mother, too. I've experienced the diversity of birth firsthand, from an emergency C-section for my first child to an induced unmedicated vaginal birth for my second, and a spontaneous, unmedicated vaginal birth for my third, which was my second successful VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean). VBACs are my passion, and I bring this personal experience to my doula practice.

About Tanya Scafe

Your Trusted Companion on the Path to Parenthood

Greetings from Coastal Fern Doula Collective! I'm Tanya Scafe, and I'm here to be your unwavering support as you navigate the beautiful journey of pregnancy, birth, and beyond. Our name reflects the tranquility of the west coast and our commitment to the Cowichan Valley community.

A Journey of Compassion and Dedication

My path to becoming a doula is rooted in a deep passion for compassionate care. Before entering the world of doula support, I honed my skills working in diverse settings, including daycare facilities and with adults with special needs. My dedication to caring for others was further fortified during my seven years of service in the military as a medical technician. This journey allowed me to travel across Canada and other parts of the world, gaining invaluable experiences and perspectives along the way.

Credentials and Commitment

I am a proud graduate of Doula Canada and hold full certification as a labor and delivery doula. My commitment to providing holistic care is reflected in my ongoing studies, which include courses in fertility, infant loss, and miscarriage support.

Science-Based Care

In a medical landscape that can feel sterile and impersonal this can lead to feelings of loss of control and be overwhelming . I firmly believe in the power of informed decisions and the importance of understanding the statistics that guide them. My approach is centred on providing you with the knowledge you need to make choices that are right for you. I strive to provide you with the power of self advocacy while I help facilitate the birth you envision, feeling respected, nourished, and empowered.

From the Beginning to the Next Chapter

I am here to support you every step of the way, from the early stages of pregnancy to the next chapter in your parenting journey. Whether you're exploring birth options, experiencing labor, or embracing the challenges and joys of the postpartum period, I'm dedicated to helping you make these moments uniquely your own.

A Mother's Perspective

As a mother of two children, I understand the transformative nature of  pregnancy, childbirth and the importance of a supportive presence during this time. My own birth experiences, including an emergency C-section with my youngest son, led me to the path of doula support. These personal experiences have deepened my commitment to ensuring that you have a positive and empowering birthing journey.
